BOHEMIAN FOREST’S ONE TO FOLLOW
May 15, 2019
Gawler trainer Darren Magro believes Bohemian Forest, winner of the Goldin Farms Benchmark 64 Handicap (1514m) at Gawler might be a mare to follow later in the year.
“She will probably go for a break after today’s win, but I think she might be able to win in town next preparation,” Magro said.
“I’ve always liked her, but as a young horse she had a few minor issues.
“Her recent form has been very good, and she just keeps improving.”
Jockey Jason Holder, who won earlier in the day on Dextiny, brought up a double when Bohemian Forest ($4) scored a long-head win from Impulse Diavolo ($3.60 fav), with Maxsamia ($6.50) one-and-a-quarter lengths away third.
Magro said the four-year-old mare had been bred by Des Pope at Oakbank.
“We’ve always liked the mare, so much so, that we bought her yearling sister which is now a two-year-old.
Magro has placed Bohemian Forest well with three wins and five placings from just 12 starts.
